„Living the Forest Lab“ ist eine Forschungsinitiative, die von der Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre finanziert wird und an der TU Berlin, Fakultät IV Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, Fachgebiet Kommunikationssysteme, angesiedelt ist.

Dieses Projekt zielt darauf ab, transdisziplinäre Lehre durch experimentelle und ergebnisoffene Projekte zu fördern, die Prototyp-Lösungen für den Waldschutz entwickeln. Durch die Verbindung von Open-Source-, Maker- und Open-Hardware-Communities mit Studierenden, Labors, Experten und der Öffentlichkeit befasst sich das Projekt mit den ökologischen, sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Funktionen von Wäldern. In Anerkennung der entscheidenden Rolle, die Wälder für die Biodiversität und die Klimaregulierung spielen, betont das Projekt die Bedeutung des Waldschutzes für die Eindämmung des Klimawandels und die Erhaltung der Ökosysteme. Durch den Einsatz eines Living-Lab-Ansatzes integriert das Projekt wissenschaftliche Forschung mit realen Anwendungen, um komplexe Probleme auf lokaler Ebene anzugehen, und ermutigt Gemeinschaften zum Wissensaustausch und zur gemeinsamen Entwicklung von Prototypen.
