The CityLAB 2023 Summer School will take place this year from September 11 to September 22 at the Kiezlabor and on the premises of CityLAB and HTW, which are jointly organizing the event. Under the theme “Prototyping for a Healthy City,” students will develop technology-based solutions using appropriate software and hardware.
Addressing the stress factor of noise—which is omnipresent in growing and increasingly dense cities—participants will explore questions such as: How can noise in the city be identified as a problem and perceived differently? What innovative solutions might there be to overcome this stress factor?
The “Food and the City” track focuses on optimizing plant irrigation to minimize the use of the valuable resource water while simultaneously generating high crop yields. The challenge is supported by the green startup HydroTower, which emerged as a spin-off of Roof Water-Farm. In addition to their expertise, the founders are also making their hydroponic plant tower available for the summer school.
The results will be presented on September 21 at the Schöpflin Foundation/Spore (Hermannstraße 86, 12051 Berlin). For more information, visit the CityLAB website.
