TU Berlin Presents Blue-Green Initiatives for the Construction Transition

A place for exchange and experimentation: Under the title “Treffpunkt Bauwende,” the site of the Federal Foundation Bauakademie will be used as a space for experimental projects and public exchange until construction on the building begins—a place where the themes of the construction transition can be experienced firsthand in Berlin-Mitte.

The Technical University of Berlin is participating with two installations: the ROOF WATER-FARM real-world laboratory presented a rainwater-fed deep-water culture system, and the Urban Ecology Research Group showcased a green facade modeled after the Fabikli project. Both installations and the accompanying discussion events contribute to the exchange of experiences and cooperation with the urban community in the context of blue-green construction, climate protection, innovation, and experimentation. We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition and attend the discussion events.

Treffpunkt Bauwende 2026: Blue-Green Construction

In the summer of 2026, Treffpunkt Bauwende will focus on the topic of “Blue-Green Construction” as the consequences of climate change are already being felt today—for example, through rising temperatures, heavy rainfall events, and prolonged periods of drought. The situation is particularly acute in cities—sealed surfaces and reflective facades create heat islands that place a strain on residents, biodiversity, and the water cycle. To ensure that cities remain livable and can fulfill their public service functions, a climate-adapted redesign of the built environment is needed.

The exhibition has a modular design and is open to all visitors. Companies and startups present concrete solutions—ranging from simple immediate measures to integrated building components. In collaboration with the Technical University of Berlin, two research projects will be showcased and scientifically supported throughout the exhibition period. Exhibition panels designed to convey knowledge and featuring practical examples from across Germany complement the real-world interventions on the grounds. The exhibition is framed by a green exhibition architecture that invites visitors to linger.

Treffpunkt Bauwende is a collaboration with the Federal Association for Green Buildings (Bundesverband GebäudeGrün) and the Berlin Rainwater Agency.
