Call for Contribution!

The initiators of POP Kudamm, StadtManufaktur Berlin and the Design and Computation program of TU and UdK Berlin invite you to participate in the design and development of Berlin’s City West.

POP Kudamm is a temporary cultural space where urban development is interpreted artistically and can be experienced creatively.

From spring 2022, science and art, laboratory work and everyday life, inquisitiveness, inventiveness, creativity, concept and curiosity will meet here and be able to work together. Research content can be experienced, scientific questions can be asked, prototypes can be shown, materials can be tested and felt, data can be collected, linked and reinterpreted. We invite you to develop various topics of urban transformation here and to show in the heart of City West what research and teaching can and want to do. We want to develop new alliances with you and win allies, discuss, research and bring scientific findings, facts, products and questions into the urban space.

The program follows four thematic lines:

CLIMATE RESILIENCE | MATERIALITY

CIRCULARITY | THERE IS NO WASTE

MOBILITY | THE HUMAN SCALE

ANTHROPOCENE | SPATIAL & CULTURAL DIMENSIONS

The following formats are foreseen:

Real labs: are both transdisciplinary research formats and spaces for civil society engagement, through which utopias and discourses of urban transformation unfold. In reallabs, both approaches should meet and connect.
Workshops Science and Society / Citizen Science: Researchers at the Technische Universität Berlin already conduct numerous projects in which citizens participate in research, collect data or develop project ideas. At POP Kudamm, these can be further developed and new projects can be initiated. We are also interested in tools and strategies for shaping the collaboration between science and society, which will be designed and tested here.
Scientists in Residence: An open space for your scientific questions and results is to be created, you can fill it and use it. We allow you free use of the space for your scientific questions and results. Within the framework of the residency, close cooperation with the other project partners of POP Kudamm is envisaged.
Prototyping Urban Transformation: We are interested in your prototypes for urban transformation. By this we do not only mean technologies, but leave the definition of the prototype(s) to you.
