A hydroponic vertical farm has been in operation since this summer at the Hubertus Sports Field in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. The local sports club BSC—which has committed to sustainable management through a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the district office—operates the so-called HubiFarm in collaboration with StadtManufaktur TU Berlin and the Office for Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation.

In this circular system, herbs and lettuces grow particularly effectively and in a resource-efficient manner. As part of the summer hockey camp, a group of young female athletes planted the vertical farm under supervision and learned about healthy and sustainable food production. The joint harvest, processing, and consumption are planned for September.
