Living Lab
Edible Campus
The “Edible Campus Charlottenburg” real-world lab develops and promotes space- and resource-efficient, ultra-local food production solutions for the campuses of the Technical University (TU) and the University of the Arts (UdK). The diverse production sites are managed collaboratively by startups, technology transfer and research institutions, and service providers on campus, and the products are also processed, consumed, and utilized right here.
The real-world lab is housed within the Science & Society Office and is coordinated in cooperation with the Department of Education for Sustainable Nutrition and Food Sciences. It is one of several real-world labs on the TU and UdK campuses that contribute to the sustainable transformation of the campus and foster collaboration with the local community. Technologies used in the “Edible Campus” real-world lab were developed as prototypes within the “Mobile Blue-Green Infrastructure” and “Roof Water-Farm” real-world labs. As part of the ClimateHOOD project, they are being implemented in cooperation with the Charlottenburg district as blue-green and participatory infrastructures in neighborhood development.
The “Edible Campus” real-world lab is open to participation—just get in touch!
