Sponge City North Campus TU Berlin – Vertical Greening for the Hydraulic Engineering Hall!
The Charlottenburg Campus is a real-world laboratory for climate protection and adaptation. With EU funding, the existing building stock on campus can now be retrofitted according to the “sponge city” principle and developed and utilized as a venue for research and teaching in a real-world laboratory setting. In the future, solar energy will be harnessed on the roof of the Hydraulic Engineering Hall (Building W—Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management); various structural modules will be installed for climate-effective and productive greening of the facade, and the rainwater collected from the roof will be managed accordingly. Evaporation beds are also planned. The real-world laboratory initiative is led by the Department of Ecohydrology and is being implemented in cooperation with StadtManufaktur. We welcome a wide range of participation! Just get in touch with us! >About the Real-World Laboratory Initiative
