Real Talk Real-World Labs
Real-world labs are designed to test, implement, and document innovations under real-world conditions. Does this also work in actual planning and construction practice? And if so, how? Together with the Federal Foundation Bauakademie (BSBA), the Natural Building Lab at TU Berlin investigated this question.
Opening of the MensaFarm at the “Edible Campus” Real-World Lab
On March 6, 2024, the MensaFarm was set up in the cafenero at the University Library of TU Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts and freshly planted for spring. Our “Edible Campus” Real-World Lab is taking shape!

Berlin-Mitte Environment and Climate Award 2023
There’s great news from the GartenLeistungen II Real-World Lab! The collaboration “Mobile Blue-Green Infrastructure – Schools Take Action for the Climate!” has been recognized. On June 14, 2023, the Max Planck Gymnasium, along with its team of students from the advanced biology course, won the 2023 Berlin-Mitte Environment and Climate Award—Special Prize for Sustainable Schoolyard Design.
