Statements on the Federal Testing Act

2026-07-01T15:22:45+02:00

The Society for Participatory & Transdisciplinary Research and the Network of Sustainability Real-World Labs welcome the legislature’s initiative to improve the legal framework for testing environments, regulatory learning, and the transfer of insights to government, business, and society through a Federal Testing Act (formerly the “Real-World Labs Act”). At the same time, the experts see a significant need for revisions to the current version of the draft bill so that the law can live up to its own claims of sustainability, accessibility, and social effectiveness while upholding established socio-ecological standards.

Schwammstadt, TU Berlin North Campus – Kick-Off!

2026-07-01T11:45:34+02:00

The Charlottenburg Campus is a real-world laboratory for climate protection and climate adaptation. Thanks to EU funding, the existing buildings on the TU campus can now be developed according to the “sponge city” principle and become a venue for research and teaching in a real-world laboratory setting. At the Hydraulics Hall (Building W—Hydraulics and Water Management), solar energy will be utilized in the future; various structural modules will be installed for climate-effective and productive greening of the facade, and the facility will be managed using rainwater collected from the roof. We welcome expert collaboration!
